Tokenization and data

Tokenization is a process that enables replacing sensitive data with unique identification symbols.

By replacing the data with the symbols it reduces the amount a business has to keep on hand of sensitive material (data). This also minimises the cost and complexity of compliance.

Tokenization is now being used to protect credit card data, bank account information and sensitive data used by payment processors.
